Taras Haida

Taras Haida

Taras Haida was born in the village of Kariv near Lviv in 1993 and currently lives and works in Kyiv. Engaged in oil painting and digital collages, he has participated in many exhibitions, including personal projects: Mimicry, Essence, and Frequency in Lviv and Kyiv.

In September 2021, one of his works joined the collection of the National Museum “Kyiv Art Gallery”.

The predominant theme of Taras Haida’s art is immersion in his own subconscious. The artist depicts situations and ideas that emerge from inside him, and thanks to intuitive thinking, turns them into expressive artistic images. Taras’ creations primarily concern how we register and comprehend the manifestations of our consciousness. Amongst his visual techniques, the most important are fragmentation of the whole, glitch and deformation. These creative tactics determine the essence of the artist’s works: they are always suspended and unorganized, resembling theatmospheres of powerful dreams or uncontrollable experiences.

Reflecting the emotions of the war in his homeland, Taras’ paintings separate his own “I” from the collective “I”. His artwork depicts individual scenes of human existence captured in destabilized compositions. Glitch effects, like a doubt, penetrate the texture of all these works, enlarging and disjointing the usual appearance of people, animals and objects. All the artist’s experiences, impressions and scenes of life events combine into geometric shapes saturated with gradated tones and smooth outlines of humans and plants.
